1. What was your fitness, CrossFit, or yoga "life" like before you started training with True Spirit CrossFit & Yoga?
My fitness level immediately before joining TSCF was very low. I've concentrated on my fitness/health for brief periods off and on the past decade. This was definitely an "off" time. I liked the thought of working out, but I just hadn't made myself do it.
2. What brought you to True Spirit CrossFit & Yoga in the first place?
My husband, Duane, had been trying to get me to try CrossFit for years, but it always looked extremely daunting. He had me meet with Leslie and have her tell me about her background and why she chose to open a CrossFit gym. She seemed so down to earth and not intimidating at all! I had hope that she wouldn't wreck me.
3. What was your first impression? Has that changed?
My first time in the gym was still very intimidating for me, mostly because it wasn't in my comfort zone. After taking the Barbell class, I felt like my first CrossFit class (a month or so later) was an easier transition. And now, I love it. True Spirit is now my comfort zone!
4. What was the first fun or positive thing you experienced while training with us?
I've had so many positive things since joining, but the first would be having the energy to play with my kids after work. That can be such a draining time of day and I'm excited to be able to do more than just veg out on the couch.
5. Are you working on any special CrossFit related skill now?
Doing a pull-up has always been on my radar. I've also seen major improvements on doing double-unders and rope-climbs, which both seemed out of my reach until a few weeks ago.
6. How has you life changed since training with TSCF? What hasn't changed?
I'm losing weight, getting stronger, increasing daily energy, sleeping better at night, learning new skills and making friends! I'm disappointed when I have to miss a day.
7. What's your favorite True Spirit CrossFit memory?
I think my very first CrossFit class will always stick with me. I remember what we did, who coached and who was in it with me. It was after that class that I remember thinking that CrossFit may actually be a fit for me.
