Jessie working on a HSPU progression. How dedicated are you to things you want? We are into the second week of our nutrition challenges and already we are seeing people skip a day, not meet their macros, etc. While it does take some adjustment to weighing and measuring food, getting daily exercise, and drinking enough water, how dedicated are we to actually doing the things we need to do to achieve the outcome we've decided we want? As you know, I listen to Coach Ben Bergeron's podcast, Chasing Excellence, weekly. I gave his book to all of our Coaches last Christmas. I like what Coach Bergeron has to say about discipline. At the end of the day, it's our discipline that determines our success. It's not our enthusiasm, motivation, inspiration, love of particular quotes, wishes, hopes or prayers, it's the daily choices, the minute - by - minute choices that keep us aligned with our goals, or that send us sideways, or perhaps backwards. What causes so much suffering is the lack of dedication to the daily discipline required to reach our goals. It's the desire to achieve something without equal enthusiasm for the process. I see so many people who beat themselves up for not achieving, but the problem is not being honest about what it is we really want! If we just 80% want to be able to do something (like a pull-up, or bodyweight clean and jerk) then it will take us a long time to get there, and there's a greater probability we will never achieve the thing. But if we're 100% dedicated, at the same level Coach Bergeron describes in this short podcast, then we have a much better probability of actually getting that thing for which we are working so hard. Take a listen to the podcast and share in the comments your level of dedication.
