Doing things together is always easier than doing it alone. Thanks to everyone who has completed our 2017 Member Survey. I really appreciate the feedback we have received thus far. We are keeping the survey open until Dec. 22. The preliminary survey results regarding your nutrition and eating habits are very interesting. Half of you (who have responded) have completed a Whole Life Challenge. This means that the other half has not. This is super interesting when well over half of you admit that you're not very confident your current eating habits will help you achieve your body composition goals. The encouraging news is that over half of you are willing to change your eating habits. HOORAY! Now we can get to work. The CrossFit recommended eating plan is to eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar, and to keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. We call this eating plan Paleo, because it's way easier to call it that then to keep repeating, "eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar." Notice the emphasis on meat and vegetables? The Paleo diet is not all meat all the time. It is, in fact, a nutrition tactic where ALL OF YOUR CARBOHYDRATES come from vegetables, some fruit and little starch. Vegetables are plants that grow above the ground, fruits are above ground yummy things with a seed (yes, even tomatoes) and Paleo starches are things that grow underground (potatoes, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, yams, parsnips, etc.) and hard-skinned squashes (acorn, butternut, spaghetti, etc.). If you load your plate with vegetables, some fruit and little starch you will get all of the carbohydrates you need! Yes, you will. In fact, your plate should look like this: Dudes get to use two hands to measure everything and gals use only one. Notice what's on the plate? Yep, meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit and little starch. That's it - Paleo.
Since over half of you are willing to change your eating habits and half of you have not yet done a Whole Life Challenge, now is the time to sign up for the New Year challenge and make the commitment to yourself and our team. One of the super cool things of the Whole Life Challenge is that we all do it together, as a team. Doing things together is always easier than doing it alone. Your WLC team will support you, inspire you, hold you accountable and be there with you every day of the 6 week challenge. Join our team today! Take the next step toward the best version of you.
