We are excited to share with you two important changes to the 2016 New Year Whole Life Challenge. 
1. Sleep replaces supplementation as a weekly lifestyle habit. According to the WLC:
"Sleep has a profound influence on your overall health and well-being, and deserves a place among our 7 Daily Habits. Supplementation is important, but does not have the same overall impact on your wellness as sleep duration and quality. Therefore, we decided to switch them out, giving Sleep a permanent spot in the Challenge.The thing to understand: Getting seven to nine hours of sleep isn’t possible for everyone. Therefore, you’ll be responsible for your own sleep prescription, choosing a sleep duration goal that fits your life while challenging you to improve your sleep habits.
The goal: get as much sleep as you can within your lifestyle, and make positive, incremental change to your current habits."

2. All weekly lifestyle habits are now worth 5 points. The WLC changed the point values because:
"In previous Challenges, Nutrition was worth 5 points, while other Habits were worth 1 or 2 points.
While this makes sense from a practical standpoint (as we wanted you to be able to slip up a bit on Nutrition without forfeiting an entire day’s worth of points) it didn’t make sense from an importance standpoint—you likely treated Nutrition as more important than the other Habits, as the non-food Habits were worth fewer points, and therefore had less impact on your overall score if you skipped them. We wanted to eliminate that unfortunate side-effect of the previous scoring system to emphasize the equality of all 7 Habits.
The thing to understand: Each of the 7 Habits is important in living a healthy, balanced, focused lifestyle.
The goal: We want you to treat each Habit with equal importance, understanding that the Whole Life Challenge is not just a “nutrition challenge” or an “exercise challenge”—it truly is about your entire lifestyle. Sleep, Hydration, Reflection, Mobility, and the Lifestyle Practice are all at least as important as Nutrition and Exercise.
What this means for the players:
  • Sleep is now a permanent Daily Habit in the Challenge
  • Supplementation is still part of a healthy lifestyle, but will no longer be included in the Challenge
  • You’ll choose your own prescription: the amount of sleep you need each night to get your 5 Sleep Points
  • The 7 Habits are now worth 5 Points each
  • This will give each Habit equal weight in your score AND in your mind
  • The Whole Life Challenge is not about one or two Habits—it’s about all of them
