The Bear Complex was the very first workout we did when we opened the gym. James and I did it together on July 1, 2014, the day we got our keys to the building.
It's Mental Toughness Thursday and I have written many posts on developing mental toughness. Would you like to know the secret to mental toughness? It's all about how you handle stress. Seriously, that's it. Stress is not something that happens to you. Stress is how you choose to respond to life's situations. That's right, stress is a choice. I am a big fan of Precision Nutrition and completed their Level 1 Sports Nutrition coaching program. Much of their program is based on behavior change, and managing your stress is a huge component of a successful nutrition program. By the way, it's also why meditation is a regular WLC Lifestyle Practice. Meditation helps you handle stress. Check out this terrific infographic from Precision Nutrition on handling stress.
Today's Workout
Bear Complex 7-7-7-7-7 rounds for load This counts as one complex: 1. Power Clean 2. Front Squat 3. Push-Press 4. Back Squat 5. Push-Press Complete seven complexes for one round. Do 5 rounds total working up to your max. You can rest in between rounds. Do not let go of the bar. If you do, you must restart the round. The Bear Complex is all about mental toughness. You need to stay calm. Increase weight intelligently (don't get greedy!) The Bear Complex works strength, power, stamina, endurance, accuracy, flexibility, and coordination.
