This week's Healthy Lifestyle Challenge is to eat every meal without technological distractions. You can listen to the radio, but you are challenged to eat all three meals for the next 7 days without your phone, computer, tablet or television.
Eating with technological devices is a distraction and we have enough distractions in our daily lives. Eating is a pleasurable and vitally important activity that should be performed with your full attention. How nice would it be if you gave yourself and your family your full, focused attention during your meals? Perhaps you will connect to your food and your family in a profound way. Perhaps you will discover the joys of tasting and consuming delicious food. Perhaps you will discover the joy of eating alone, in blissful silence. How delightful will it be to have 15 minutes (or more) of time, sans the incessant chirping, whistling, buzzing, vibrating, and ringing that bombardes our senses? During your technological device free meal, take the time to appreciate your food. Thank the person who prepared it, even if that person is you. When was the last time you gave yourself some gratitude? You deserve this technological device free time. Enjoy it! Today's Workout Olympic Weightlifting Total 3 attempts to find your max effort snatch 3 attempts to find your max effort clean & jerk. Today we finally put our 6 weeks of snatch practice to the test. Today we are testing our Olympic Weightlifting Total. You will have 3 attempts to find your 1 rep max snatch and your 1 rep max clean & jerk. Today's workout is the end of our snatch technique cycle and the beginning of our clean & jerk cycle. For the next 6-8 weeks, at least once a week we will clean & jerk. We will use light weight, moderate weight, heavy weight. Some days we will just work on the clean and some days we will just work on the jerk. Olympic Weightlifting is unparalleled in developing strength, speed, coordination, stamina and mental toughness. There's nothing more powerful that staring down a heavy barbell and successfully lifting it over your head. We will spend lots of time, just as we did with the snatch, working on drills and technique. It has been a real thrill watching so many of you have "a-ha" moments with the snatch. We can't wait to see your progress with the clean & jerk. Get ready! Compare to Dec. 19, 2014.
