Today's Technique Tuesday video features CrossFit Games champion Camille LeBlanc-Bazinet. Camille walks us through her favorite handstand drill and progression.
Developing a solid handstand develops core strength, core control, proprioception, balance, and general athleticism. We go through our day, primarily, balancing on our feet with an upright view of the world. It's a valuable skill to be able to balance on something other than your feet. Imagine if you were to trip, slip and fall. You are less likely to seriously injure yourself if your balance and proprioception are developed. Since we are primarily upright throughout most of our day, getting inverted, be it in a handstand or downward dog, enables us to literally change our view of the world. Humans are meant to walk on our feet, on our hands, roll, cartwheel, tumble, climb, and do all manner of locomotive movements. We naturally explore our ability to move in non-pedal ways as children. Then, as we age and "grow-up" we loose our playfulness and movement curiosity. Today, we are giving you the opportunity to play and move differently. You're welcome:-) Today's Workout Skill work: Handstand with chest facing the wall Buy in: max effort downward dog against the wall, handstand hold with chest facing the wall or freestanding handstand then, Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 mins of: 10 Kettlebell swings 2/1.5 pood 10 Box jumps 24/20" 10 Ring dips
