Greg Glassman calls CrossFit, this core strength and conditioning program that we all know and love, "evidence-based fitness." Improvements and increased fitness are directly measured by scores, times, loads and all other sorts of data. We CrossFitters are data junkies. We regularly log our WODs, water consumed, fish oil taken, sleep enjoyed. We gather all of this data so that we know (or think we know) exactly how much weight to use when a 1RM percentage is prescribed; or, to give ourselves some slack when we have a crappy week and realize we've slept all of 5 hours in 5 days. Gathering data and logging your results are an important part of taking control of your health and fitness. You'll never know how far you've come, unless you know where you've been.
You can log all of this data on Beyond the Whiteboard. You get a free BTWB account with your membership. Email us to get it set up for you. Today we are going to help you acquire data on your strength. Today we are doing the CrossFit Total. After you have warmed-up and stretched out, you will have three attempts to find your 1 rep max in the: Back Squat Shoulder Press Deadlift You need to declare your attempts to the coach. If you don't make your attempt, you can't go down in weight. You have to try again young grasshopper. CrossFit Total is a workout of physical strength and mind control. Good luck!
