It's Technique Tuesday and today's technique video is filled with excellent rowing tips from 2012 Olympic silver-medalist sculler, Krista Guloien. She knows a thing or two about rowing:-) Before you get on the erg today, you'll be doing your gymnastics pulling progressions. During our Mid-Year Check-Ins I asked everyone to identify a goal for the next 6 months. OVERWHELMINGLY, your goals are focused on gymnastics movements, pull-ups and muscle-ups being the top two goals. You can get a pull-up and a muscle-up, and it will require consistent, dedicated practice. We dedicate one day to gymnastics pulling and one day to gymnastics pressing progressions each week. You can also attend Goals and Goats on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 - 5:30 PM to work on your gymnastics progressions. Put in the work, practice and you will get your chin or your body over that bar. Good luck! The Bozeman Locavore Challenge Starts TODAY!Whole and Nourished and True Spirit CrossFit invite you to join our local eating challenge in August. For 31 days we encourage you to eat from within 100 miles of Bozeman.
We hear from our clients that they get frustrated by eating challenges because they focus on what they can’t eat. Well, we hear you! This is an eating challenge that celebrates what we can eat. If it’s produced within 100 miles of Bozeman, put in on your plate. We want to celebrate the abundance of our incredible foodshed. Eating locally has so many personal and environmental health benefits. You might find that by eating locally you consume more fresh whole fruits and vegetables. You will probably eat less processed foods because so much processed food is made somewhere else. Some agricultural scholars say that our current industrial food system is not sustainable because it requires too much energy. Did you know it takes an average of 10 fossil-fuel calories to produce one calorie of food energy? About a quarter of America’s greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to how we grow, process and transport food. On average, our food travels 1,500 miles before it reaches our plate. By taking this Locavore challenge, your food will travel only 100 miles to reach your plate. It some cases, it may travel less than 5 miles. You will probably come face to face with the person who grew your food. You may develop a profoundly important relationship with your food’s producer and you will certainly notice the difference in taste and freshness. The rules of the challenge are simple:
We hope you have fun, eat well and enjoy the amazing summer abundance of the Gallatin Valley. Cheers and Bon Appetit! You can join the Bozeman Locavore Challenge by clicking on the image below

We hosted a MovNat workshop and trainer certification program this weekend. Coaches Heidi and Leslie learned all of the basic principles of MovNat and are really excited to integrate this natural movement program into our regular CrossFit classes.
MovNat is a fitness program that taps into our natural evolutionary movement to build strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, balance, speed, and power. MovNat has partnered with the Whole Life Challenge on an 8 week mobility series which we are sharing on our Mobility Monday blog posts. You can do this short movement sequence at home, at work, or at the gym to build flexibility, mobility and durability. Have fun! We are hosting the MovNat workshop this weekend and we will not have our regular Saturday 9am class. Go for a hike instead!
